I have three circuit boards, one large board that controls two smaller boards, but only one at a time. I will not be able to manually change the wiring to switch from one of the smaller boards to the other, so I'm looking for a way to switch between them without having to completely redo the circuitry. I agree that a switch or relay could be used, but they would need to have connections for 5 separate wires since that is what you need to switch. A relay could work but it would have to be a 5-pole realy. A DPDT relay is only 2 poles and would not work for your application. Also, a relay needs power to activate. Try and find a 5-pole switch from an electronics catalog. Something like a basic toggle switch would work, but it needs to be a double throw (DT) switch. A single throw would only make or break the connection to one board. A double throw will give you 3 positions. Two positions for the two different boards and a third position to break the connection to both boards. Also make sure the switch you choose is rated to handle the voltage and current you plan to run through it. I would say go to Radio Shack but they seem to only sell cell phones anymore.
