Amprobe R-115S Remcon Relay Switch

  • Three-wire relay with low-voltage control circuits for controlling momentary switches
  • Independent relay can be controlled by multiple switches and will not interfere with operation of other relays in a multiple relay system
  • Built-in transformer eliminates need for separate step-down transformers
  • Unit shuts down when overheated and does not burn out when switch legs are shorted
  • Controls power sources with alternating current (AC) voltage from 105 to 125 volts (V) at a frequency of 60 hertz (Hz)

The Amprobe R-115S Remcon three-wire relay switch uses a low-voltage control circuit to turn on or off the flow of alternating current (AC) to momentary switches in commercial and home applications. It is an Independent relay that can be controlled by multiple switches and will not interfere with the operation of other relays in a multiple relay system. The unit has a built-in transformer that eliminates the need to wire to a separate step-down transformer. The relay automatically shuts down when the unit overheats and will not burn out if the switch legs are shorted. The relay can control power sources with AC voltage from 105 to 125 volts (V) at a frequency of 60 hertz (Hz). It has a maximum AC current load of 6.5 amp and a 1/4 horsepower maximum motor load at 120V. For switching the relay on or off, the maximum direct current (DC) load is 10 microamp, and the maximum DC voltage load is 10V. The Amprobe Remcon R-115S is an Underwriters Laboratories (UL) listed device.

Relay switches (also called an electrical relay or an electrical relay switch) use a small amount of power to control a larger source of power connected to electrical devices such as car motors, computers, and lighting installations. A basic relay switch has a control circuit with an electromagnetic coil and a load circuit with contacts and a lever. When current flows into the relay switch, it moves through the coil and a magnetic field is created, which causes the lever in the load circuit to move between contacts. In a normally open (NO) relay switch, when power is supplied to the relay, the load circuit is closed and the power source connected to the relay is turned on. In a normally closed (NC) relay switch, when power is supplied to the relay, the load circuit is open and the power source connected to the relay is turned off. In other types of relay switches, non-moving parts such as transistors or semiconductors can be used as the control circuit to operate the switching mechanism. Relay switches can be controlled with an external switch, such as a light switch, or they can be connected to an automatically switched power source, such as a car ignition. One relay can operate multiple switches, and multiple relays can be operated with a single switch, with each relay operating independently from the other relays in the system.

Amprobe manufactures electrical testing equipment for commercial, industrial, and home use. The company was founded in 1948 and is headquartered in Everett, WA.

Mark asked How to wire 12v relay to operate projector screen?

Hello Everyone: Short form: Want my projector to control my electric projection screen (issue: On my projector I have a 12v trigger coming out of it, but my electric projector screen does not have a 12v input) What I do have is the option to add an Up and Down switch, to the screen controller box. What I was planning on doing is adding a 5 pin 12v relay, to control the up and down switch. I tested the screen and it will work with the down button continuosly pressed as well as the up button continuously pressed. What I need is just confirmation that I'm wiring it correctly. So the relay has 5 pins (and this is how I think it could work): 86 - 12v from projector (12v is continously feed when the projector is on) 30 - Ground from projector (for the 12v) 85 - Nothing connected 87 - The Down Switch (from the screen controller) 87a - The Up Switch (From the screen controller) 30 - the ground for the Up and Down Switch (from the screen controller) From what I gather, When the relay is powered (ie 12v from projector) then the 87 and the 30 will close and in turn cause the screen to go down. Then when the 12v is cut (ie the projector is turned off) then the 87a and the 30 will close, and in turn cause the screen to go up. Brand new screen, just don't want to fry it doing something wrong. Thanks in advance for you help.

And got the following answer:

First see what voltage that switch operates at. By those terminal numbers, it looks like you are talking of a standard automotive accessory relay (which I have used plenty of, so know). Those are rated to 50 some volts. If the up/down switch is at mains voltage, such a relay is unacceptable. Instead, you should get one with mains AC rated contacts, and an appropriate enclosure. If it is low voltage low current, you likely could get a smaller relay than the automotive type. Second is to see if the screen motor has limit switches, so that such a basic relay scheme can work blindly, otherwise, you need timers or limit switches.

The how to wire a automotive relay function exceptionally well with distinct applications that are precise to power distribution and protection. The relays come with wide adjustment ranges with a scale that may be easy to study either in three or four digits in accordance with the model. These how to wire a automotive relay assist in escalating the flexibility on the applications, decrease the overall power and maintenance expenses. There are actually relays which are utilized for general purposes which are available in trustworthy designs with rapid replacement possibilities. And you will discover models that are used for industrial applications and heavier duty applications that function on large loads. These solutions are produced to meet the lifetime industrial handle requires with the applications.
Their most current items will be the Time counter, Timer Delay, how to wire a automotive relay, Rapid Connect Couplings, Electronic Motor Couplings, Aluminum Couplings, Morse Couplings and various other folks. The web site delivers a detailed description of every model in different categories of how to wire a automotive relay couplings and sensors. These goods are incredibly beneficial for high-risk applications. The how to wire a automotive relay are also offered with characteristics like a number of timing ranges and functions. The enterprise is presently on the lookout for agents and dealers who can market and sell their factory created goods. They are generally on a lookout for building new and more trusted solutions depending on the desires and needs of your sector.
