I have an Arduino Mega 2560 and I wan't to interface a couple of devices to it. Also I don't know if I should buy a water meter or just attach a servomotor to a mechanical meter instead. The same applies for the electric meter. Please give suggestions. The state reporting is necessary so that if ever the user switches the device the MCU would be aware that it's state has changed and for example it wouldn't switch it on if it were already switched on manually. Also it's for monitoring purposes. As for the meters, I think sticking a servo/stepper motor to it's gauge and applying math principles you could get the water consumption. Also would I need another circuit board for each device/device group (so I can draw them in the diagram properly)? I want to build everything in "modules" (like the one you linked). Like the a "relay module" for a series of relays or an "analog module" for the other devices, etc. Oh and please don't include wiring runs or whatever because I'm just gonna make this as a proof of concept type of thing.
