Hi. I've just moved into a property that has a decked area (which is above a shop) but all of the decking board since moving in have pretty much snapped. The wood is not solid, and each time you step on a plank you feel as if you are going to go through it. Previous to this happening, I signed a 2 year lease which means I am unable to move for two years. I asked the landlord if he could replace the decking, but as this would be expensive, he said no. We offered to remove the decking and relay new boards. He likewise declined this offer. We really need this area safe and secure and we have to walk over these boards to get into the home. I've read on the internet that you should NOT relay new boards on top of old ones due to rot, drainage problems etc but I don't know what else I could do? Does anyone have any advice? Thanks
