P@tRiCk asked How do you hotwire the fan behind the radiator?
I have an 86' chevy celbrity station wagon for a racecar. I need to hotwire the radiator fan so it turns on when I turn the car on. How do I do this?
And got the following answer:
it's really easy. all you need is some wire a fuse holder and a relay. you run a wire from a constant 12v source (like the battery or a junction block) into the fuse holder and then to the relay switched side. then you run a wire from the other relay switched terminal to the fan. then you run a smaller wire from any 12v source that is switched ( you could either run it from something else or you can wire up your own switch) the easiest way is to go in your fuse box and find a fuse that only has power when the ignition is on, and then remove the fuse and wrap the wire around the fuse and stick it back in. run that wire to the relay on the side that activates it. then run the other side of the relay to ground and run the fan to a ground. and your done. if you don't know about relays, they are real easy to hook up. the relay will have 4 terminals, 2 that activate the relay and 2 that power the fan. the relay usually has a diagram on the side showing you what terminals are what. one side of the diagram will look like a little switch and the other side will look like a little coil. you hook the fan to the switch side and the smaller wires to the coil side. for the fan side you prob want to go with something like 14gauge wire but you can use much smaller wire for the turn on side. if you try to run the fan without a relay, you will blow fuses or possibly catch your car on fire. here is a diagram showing you what i mean. http://electricwiringdiagram.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/relay-12v-wiring-schematics.gif good luck
The relay terminal blocks perform really well with unique applications which might be distinct to power distribution and protection. These relay terminal blocks enable in rising the flexibility of your applications, lessen the general energy and maintenance charges. You will discover relays that are made use of for general purposes which come in trustworthy styles with quick replacement choices. And there are actually models that are utilised for industrial applications and heavier duty applications that function on substantial loads. These products are made to meet the lifetime industrial control requirements of the applications.
Their newest merchandise would be the Time counter, Timer Delay, relay terminal blocks, Quick Connect Couplings, Electronic Motor Couplings, Aluminum Couplings, Morse Couplings and several other folks. The website presents a detailed description of every single model in many categories of relay terminal blocks couplings and sensors. These solutions are really helpful for high-risk applications. The relay terminal blocks are also offered with functions like many timing ranges and functions. The business is at present trying to find agents and dealers who can market and sell their factory made products. They may be always on a lookout for developing new and much more dependable solutions determined by the desires and needs of your business.
