Hey guys, I am trying to make a vibration motor run using wireless communications between a tws434 and a rws434. I am also using a 4 bit decoder and encoder (HT12D and HT12E). At the bottom of this question are two links, one for the vibration motor page and one for the schematics that i correctly connected. The schematics include the tws434 connected with the ht12e and the rws434 connected with the ht12d. I have the VE connected to ground permanently on the ht12e, and i am only using d0, not d1-2, and i am manually connected it to ground instead of using a button. on the receiver, i do not have vt connected to anything, and i am only using d0 on that too, and having that connected as teh "direct LED example", but using the vibration motor instead of the LED. Also, i have used 4 1.5V batteries for each of the transmitter and receiver circuits. Regardless of everything being correctly connected, the vibration motor refuses to run. It's not clear what you mean by the "direct LED example" - the only one I see drives the LED through a transistor. In any case, it's not surprising that the motor won't run because it needs 75-85 mA, which you'll never get from an output of that decoder IC. Using a transistor as a current amplifier is a good idea, but not with that 470 ohm resistor as shown in the "sample valid transmit circuit". Replace the resistor with a direct connection to ground and put the motor where the LED is shown. To prevent damaging the transistor by the inductive kickback of the motor, place a small diode, such as a 1N4148 ( http://www.sparkfun.com/products/8588 ) across the motor leads, with the anode end facing the transistor (the stripe indicates the cathode, facing away from the transistor). EDIT********************************************************* My advice is the same as before. The motor needs 75-85 mA, but you cannot get that much current directly from the decoder IC. You must boost it up using a transistor as shown. Use the relay driver circuit, with the motor instead of the relay coil. Don't forget the diode.
